Shannon Berry
Investor Relations Associate
Drawn to the opportunity to work at the intersection of sports, venture, and philanthropy, Shannon joined Next Legacy in 2023 as an Investor Relations Associate. In her role, she supports the Next Legacy community as well as operational processes across the firm.
Shannon began her career in the nonprofit sector. After college, she performed a year of fulltime national service as an AmeriCorps member with City Year, an education-focused nonprofit dedicated to addressing inequity in the US public-school system. She became a member of the organization’s staff thereafter, spending the next five years managing board operations and executing special projects for the Bay Area site. Prior to Next Legacy, Shannon served as Chief of Staff of a venture-backed fintech startup, Atlas, and worked as an Executive Assistant at General Catalyst.
Shannon was recruited to play DI field hockey for Cornell University where she was a four-year student athlete and received the James E. Rice, Jr. Award for excellence in expository writing. The prize-winning essay was subsequently included in the Spring 2012 edition of the Knight Writing Institute’s semiannual publication, Discoveries. Shannon holds a BA in History and Art History from Cornell as well as an MS in Nonprofit Leadership/Social Impact Strategy from the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of work, she enjoys rooting for Bay Area sports teams, volunteering at Halleck Creek Ranch, training for her next marathon, and exploring Marin and Sonoma by trail and kayak.
